SEDONA RANCH HISTORY

Sedona Ranch on Oak Creek is located in a historically rich area. In the 1800s the first homesteaders came to Sedona to settle along The Oak Creek, including Henry Schuerman and his wife. While residing in Prescott, Henry was given a piece of land on The Oak Creek to settle a debt. Although his intention was to fix it up and sell it for a profit, he began a successful fruit orchard and vineyard. The Schuermans sold their fruits, wine, and grape juice throughout Arizona, especially to the miners in Jerome. Henry created irrigation canals through 72 acres of the property from The Oak Creek to provide water to his crops, which can still be seen flowing through the community. The vineyard was successful until prohibition in the 1900s and you may still spot wild grapes growing along The Oak Creek. In the 1940s Sedona Ranch on Oak Creek was part of a larger cattle ranch that stretched across 700 acres. Today, Sedona Ranch at Oak Creek is rejuvenated with ranch and contemporary architecture complimented by open spaces, allowing the breathtaking views to be enjoyed once again.
